6.0             LONG RANGE GROWTH AND POST DISASTER REDEVELOPMENT

Map 7 projects the areas of most rapid growth in the Parish.  As shown, growth is expanding in broad areas to the West and North of the incorporated areas of Monroe and West Monroe. Less growth is evident to the South and East. Post disaster redevelopment is specific to areas impacted by flooding or other disasters.

Future development in the Parish is also expected to be influenced by the highway loop that may be built in the future (Figure 2.1).  Because of the substantial growth expected in the Parish over the next decades, ordinances reducing growth in flood-prone areas or requiring higher floor elevations can generate significant improvements in the area flooding disasters.
